Genesis Seeds has begun a fast-track organic breeding program to develop F-1 hybrid and selected certified organic vegetable, flower and herb seed to complete its export program. Our research program is done with full cooperation with the Faculty of Agriculture, Hebrew university of Jerusalem and the Vulcani Agricultural Research Organization (ARO).

VEGETABLES
Beet, cucumbers, lettuce, melons (see below), onions, radish, squash, tomatoes
HERBS, CULINARY & MEDICINAL
Joint research with Na'va Ya'ar Experimental Station (ARO*).
Sweet basil production trials for production, flavour and fusarium disease resistance, rosemary, oregano, marjoram, melissa, chives, sage, green mustards, parsley.

FLOWERS
Sunflowers, larkspur, iberis, dianthus, ornamental peppers, zinnias.
WILD FLOWERS & HERBS
New introductions from the Galilee and Negev areas.
ORGANIC GROWING TECHNIQUES
Subsurface irrigation, Irrigation control, weed control, nutrition control, sanitation and cultivation.

MELON RESEARCH

Working on improvement of Ananas and Galia types for better shelf life, size, small seed cavity, enhanced sweetness and flavor and resistant to mildews and Fusarium (Seed lines are evaluated by Bar-Ilan University). Parental lines have already been selected.

Experimental hybrids of Galia type to be tested in Fall-Winter 2006. Experimental production is scheduled to be done on Spring 2006.

Experimental varieties of Ananas type will be ready Fall 2006.

 Future development planned for Cantaloupe types.
