Research Programs
Genesis Seeds has begun a fast-track organic breeding program to develop certified organic F-1 hybrid and selected vegetable, flower and herb seed to complete its export program. Our research program is done with full cooperation with the Faculty of Agriculture, Hebrew university of Jerusalem and the Volcani Agricultural Research Organization (ARO) and The Vegetable Breeding Institute in Cornel University.

MELON RESEARCH

On going Organic breeding program for Galia and Cantaloupe types for better shelf life, size, small seed cavity, enhanced sweetness and flavor and resistant to mildews Fusarium races, zymv (Tolerance evaluation for Fusarium and zymv is done in Bar-Ilan University, Prof. Rafi Perl-Treves). First commercial organic hybrids of Galia type ’Rona’ & 'Dona' has been successfully introduced in major Mediterranean countries. On Going organic breeding program in Cantaloupe types will introduce the first experimental hybrids on 2010. This program is carried on by Dr. Ran Herman, Senior cucurbit breeder, Genesis Seeds Ltd

 
SQUASH RESEARCH

Main breeder: Dr. Harry Paris from Volcani Research Station in Ne’ve Ya’ar.
Main objectives of the research are: shape, color, resistances, growth habit, productivity and shipability.
4 varieties are already commercialized and 4 new introductions are on initial trials and based on the results will be commercialized on 2010. The introductions are carried on under the supervision of Dr. Ran Herman and Mrs. Anat Shahaf from Genesis Seeds.
