Dr.
Isaac NirPresident of
Genesis Seeds, Dr. Nir has more than 25 years of experience in all
aspects of the floriculture and horticulture industries. These
include: plant propagation, cut flower production, agricultural
marketing and market evaluation.
Fluent in Hebrew, English, Spanish
and Arabic, Dr. Nir is a graduate of the Faculty of Agricultural
of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He received his PhD. in
horticulture in 1977 from the same institution.He obtained
practical experience in all aspects of horticulture in the United
States, Holland and Japan.
Dr. Nir is the inventor of the ‘Aeropoponic Growing & Propagation
System' and has developed many
horticultural projects in Israel, South America, South Africa,
Spain, Turkey, India and Egypt. With his extensive knowledge of
international agricultural markets, Dr. Nir has served as a
consultant and researcher for the World Bank and is teaching
Horticulture at the Faculty of Agricultural of the Hebrew
University of Jerusalem.
As chairman of the ‘Shemin Fund’ since 1980, Dr. Nir has helped and
guided many Israeli students, farmers, research people and
extension officers to get complementary know-how and education in
horticulture all over the world. |
Emanuel Shemin
Mr.
Shemin's career in horticulture spans over 45 years. The founder
of Shemin Nurseries (1955), Mr. Shemin pioneered Horticultural
Distribution, the first one-stop wholesale distribution in the
horticulture industry.
Shemin Nurseries was purchased by
Weyerhaeuser Company in 1986. Mr. Shemin retired in 1990 and was
appointed to the Board of Directors of Shemin Nurseries.
A graduate
in Plant Science from Syracuse University,
Mr. Shemin
is now a Trustee Emeritus after 16 years on the Board of
Trustees and six years on the Executive Committee of the Board.
He was also appointed to the Syracuse University School of
Management Corporate Advisory Council in 1989.
Mr. Shemin
has been actively connected with the State of Israel since 1976,
focusing mainly on horticulture. He worked with Dr. Nir to
establish the plant propagation industry for export in 1978,
established the agribusiness course at the Faculty of
Agriculture of The Hebrew University, and has supported many
educational and research programs on the production and
marketing of horticultural products.
Mr. Shemin's
activities include: advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture in
Israel; past President of the North American-Israel
Horticultural Foundation, Inc.; Board of Directors of NOBEL
Educational Dynamics, Inc., a publicly held educational company. |
